Tumblr now back online…

staff:

The Dashboard was just offline for about 30 minutes after a switch failed on one of our racks, which reduced server capacity. Access to blogs was interrupted momentarily.

We’re very sorry for the inconvenience. (Thanks to the team at The Planet for the fast replacement.)

Google Analytics installed on My Tumblr

I have installed Google Analytics on my Tumblr blog today so I should be able to report visitor traffic from 28 June 2009 onwards using this web analytics tool. Getting started is very easy and it is FREE;

  1. create a Google account - you can setup gmail and analytics once created
  2. complete the Google Analytics registration form
  3. then copy the javascript code into the source code at the top of your blog or website page before <body>
  4. save the change
  5. then log back into your Google Analytics after 24 hours to check the status of your account and whether the code is picking up visitor traffic

That’s all, it really is that simple.

A Big Fan of Tumblr’s Dashboard and Flexibility

I’m now a big fan of Tumblr! It is so easy to setup and has some really nice dashboard features, which are simple to use and integrate into your blog, these are;

  • Text
  • Photo
  • Quotes
  • Links
  • Chat
  • Audio
  • Video

I would definitely recommend setting up a Tumblr blog and adding a customised theme to personalise your communication. The main benefit of Tumblr is its flexibility. I haven’t tried to import this blog into my website as yet, but once I’ve done this I’ll report back on whether this has been successful or not. In meantime here’s some interesting articles from Mashable.
