Mobile Social Media Usage on the Increase
It is good to see this research and findings from Opera’s recently survey on the rise of social media usage via the mobile device. “Facebook is now the most visited social network on the mobile Web. According to Opera’s State of the Mobile Web report, unique users of Facebook grew more than 600% during 2009. Twitter saw its usage increase more than any other mobile social networks,...

Google Detox - Day 28, 29 & 30
Well, I’m finally at the end of my Google Detox when I started this experiment some 4 weeks ago, I didn’t anticipate how challenging this would be and how it would be very difficult not to interact with the brand both online and offline. I’ll post my finally blog posting on this topic tomorrow briefly outlining my journey and challenages I encountered along the way.

Google Detox - Day 27
Slowly drawing to the end of my Google Detox, during the past 4 weeks it has been quite a challenge to not interact with the brand both online and offline. However, yesterday was rather good as I was able to go through the whole day without having sight or dealing with Goggle. Not sure this will be the case for Day 28 as each day seems to be a completely different experience, I’ll update you...

Google Detox - Day 26
I wasn’t online much yesterday so not much to report regarding my Google Detox, apart from seeing lots of billboard advertising for Google’s Chrome. Interesting to see how the brand is using offline media to promote the benefits of it’s Internet browser, it seems that not enough people are using Chrome as their primary browser. I must say I do like my FireFox and find this much...

Google Detox - Day 24 & 25
Unfortunately, I’ve broken my Google detox again on both day 24 and 25, as I couldn’t resist trying the Google Nexus One, such a beautiful handset and lots of great apps. Really torn between whether to buy the new iPhone or Nexus One. Both have advantages and disadvantages, I’m still unsure as need to trial both handset before deciding. By the way, I’m still quite happy to...

Dear Apple: What we want to see for iPhone 4.0,... →
Shall I wait for the new iPhone or get the Google Nexus One? Here’s a consumer wish list for Apple iPhone 4.0 shaneguiter: sarahcooley: 1. The lock screen needs to change. 2. A new home screen. The iPhone is the smartest phone on the market. Make is smarter. Introduce a location-aware home screen. 3. That new home screen? Let us access it by vertically swiping. 4. Overhaul app...

Google Detox - Day 20 & 21
It has been a good Google Detox weekend - online and offline, with no sight of “Big G”. Just 10 days to go before I finish the detox! I have received quite a few Google Alerts this weekend and so I’m still trying to ignore these automated alerts. Any one know of an alternative to this for Bing and Yahoo?

Google Detox - Day 19
Slightly behind on my dairy by one day… will catch up later There really is no escaping Google, it is everywhere online and offline. When I first embarked on this experiment I didn’t realise what a challenge this would be. The brand has become ubiquitous and flows in everything that I generally do in my work and personal life, making it hard not to interact with the brand. Today I was...

Google Detox - Day 18
Slightly behind on my dairy by one day… Since being back at work in the digital world after the Christmas break, there really is no escaping Google. The organisation is mentioned frequently in blogs, discussion forums, in the news, industry sites and all the time on Twitter. Although, I am still sticking with Bing as my primary search engine, haven’t had to use Yahoo much as yet. My...

Google Detox - Day 17
Not a good Google detox day, had to do some work with “Big G” today so I guess I have to write off today again. The detox was easier to do when I was on holiday at Christmas and not surfing the web, unfortunately I can’t do this for the remaining part of my challenge, as I need to be at work. Received a good tip from Women in Technology today regarding alternative search engines...

I was recently asked by Jake Hird, a Senior Researcher at Econsultancy, to answer the following questions. Sharing my mobile marketing experience and offering hints and tips to those wishing to get start with mobile as a digital communication channel. Here’s my anwsers, it is a long article, but I think quite an easy read and full of mobile marketing hints and tips. Mobile marketing seems...

Google Detox - Day 16 (a day off detoxing)
I’m now well over the half way mark of my Google Detox. Today, has somewhat been a challenge for me, I had a Q&A published on Econsultancy, which I wrote before Christmas 2009 mentioning my mobile marketing experience and Google’s search for mobile. So, I think I’ve failed to rid Google today, the brand is definitely under my skin, I’ve still managed to keep with searching on...

Google Detox - Day 15
A day behind in my detox diary, I’m actually on day 16 (will update my diary later)! Well, I’m now half way through my Google Detox, it has been more of a challenge rather than being difficult. I am now used to using Bing as my primary search engine and love the ever changing homepage image. However, I have yet to find an alternative my automated Google Alerts and Google Analytics.

Google Detox - Day 12
Happy New Year! It has been a good Google Detox day - online and offline, with no sight of “Big G” on New Year’s Day. I think it may be different once I’m back at work next week! By the way, I’ll start to create a table of the Google alternatives I’ve found during my detox journey at the end of this experiment.
