Google Detox - Day 10
It has been a great Google Detox day - online and offline, with no sight of “Big G”.

Google Detox - Day 9
Not much to report as I haven’t been surfing today, I’ve only just logged on to complete my Google detox dairy. Well, I was hit with a branding/product placement statement in Emmerdale’s script tonight “I Googled it!”. I wonder if the script writers ever thought of adding “I Binged it!” into the script, some how I think not. Bing is a relatively new brand and...

Google Detox - Day 8
It has been over a week since I started my Google Detox, I’m somewhat used to searching in Bing now, although I’m not completely happy with the results. The engine doesn’t seem to be indexing all the information that Google indexes. Having said that the majority of the time I’m happy with the search results, although I must say I do prefer Google search results, as these...

Google Detox - Day 5, 6 and 7
Not much to report as I haven’t been surfing much these past few days. So, the detox hasn’t been too bad and surprisingly I have not seen any Google product placements on TV either.

NINE - opens in the UK today It is the season to be Italian and one man must find the magic and win back his wife! Google Detox - Day 4
I used Google Translate by mistake today, I was looking for a translation which wasn’t covered by Yahoo’s Babel Fish, searched for an online translation product and when I used it the result page came back branded as Google. There’s no escaping Google, I’ve seen lots of product placements for Google within some festive films this evening. I’m find this challenge...

Google Detox - Day 3
Trying to ignore all my Google Alerts, which is quite difficult as I’ve set them to email me every time a new piece of content is publish. Regarding my search queries, I’m now using a mixture of the following to find content rather than one engine: Bing Yahoo Thomson Local On the plus side, I do like Bing’s ever changing homepage image. It is a nice touch!

Google Detox - Day 2
Not much to report, apart from I’m now using both Bing and Yahoo for my search results. I’m finding that unless I’m really perspective in my search queries the wrong results are showing. The detox continues.

Google Detox - Day 1
Well, what a day! I didn’t realise how difficult this experiment was going to be, it has turned into quite a challenge rather than a detox. I’m not sure at the moment whether I’m missing the functionality, ease or has it just become a habit for me to use Google products on a daily basis. I’m already missing Google Analytics - I can’t view my blog stats so I...

Google Detox - a month without Big G
As it is a relatively quite time of year, I’ve decided to test whether I can live without Google in my work and personal life. I’ll be covering a diary over the next month detailing how much this brand has had an impact on my life and whether I can survive online without Google. My first thoughts are I suspect it may be easier to give up chocolate for the month than Google! So, here...
